FLCNA are presenting a collaborative effort between members at the GFA 24 event which will launch a much bigger movement in reclaiming our heritage. This will simply be the taster of what is to come. “MY Olla is not YOUR Olla” presents the absurdity of fashion, fashioning and the western golden standard. When you put something that is seen as “balady” “beya2a” chavvy and a little tasteless, a simple object such as our terracota drinking jugs : Olla, into a fashion “worthy “ space; what happens?
The satirical yet genius look at our every day North African objects, and how they can be transformed into something that is indeed couture. We present to you the journey of our Olla and how the project came about, with the amazing collaboration with Sacer and Shell homage who will be making the actual pieces.
Shell homage is a hundred percent sustainable trademarked material made from egg shells. It is an Egyptian brand, so is Sacer, we will be using this event to launch our shell homage Olla and accompanying items. We shall discuss the reclaiming of “us” and the genius that is Rania founder of shell homage as well as the amazing work and groundbreaking pieces that Sacer do. Join us , and let’s see what your OLLA looks like.
Please consider supporting the programme by purchasing either the Supporter or Donor tickets, as the project is made possible by the efforts of local initiatives, dedicated scholars and independent collectives.
The GFA24 is coordinated by The Research Collective for Decoloniality & Fashion with the support of the Stimuleringsfonds Design Sector Internationalization Grant Scheme.
