Our Clothes… What Do They Remember?

ملابسنا… ماذا تتذكر؟    |   Fashioning North Africa

Inspired by the internationally exhibited project and publication A Meeting of Cultures: Fashioning North Africa, this gathering brings together designers, artists, researchers and communities for an evening of shared conversation exploring clothing as memory, identity, heritage and lived cultural expression across North Africa and its diasporas.

Through open conversations, storytelling, tea rituals and collective participation, the evening invites guests to reflect on the histories, emotions and meanings woven into what we wear – from inherited garments and jewellery to everyday pieces that carry personal or cultural significance.

Rooted in decolonial thinking and cultural awareness, the gathering creates space to question how North African identities have been represented, remembered and reimagined through dress, craft and image-making, not through lectures or hierarchy, but through conversation, shared experience and participation.
